The works department is composed of Roads, Water, Civil works and Housing and Mechanical sections. It has a mandate to ensure that infrastructure facilities, including feeder roads, water supplies and public buildings, are available in all parts of the district at least up to minimum national standards. This chapter covers statistics on roads, safe water coverage, and housing including urban centre development, vehicles and plants in the district.
