The sports section in education department is only functional for the gazetted events in education calendar from the ministry of Education and Sports. These comprise games and sports like athletics, football, dance and drama. The out of school youth are not catered for by the sports section. The department does not have a sports officer; however there is someone care-taking. There was an attempt to recruit the sports officer in 2004 but this effort did not yield the expected results. The District at large does not have a football team to talk about apart from village teams. The youths in Pallisa have been drenched in supporting foreign European teams/clubs. Recreation centres are very limited except in Pallisa Town Council where indoor games are played e.g. (pool table, chess and scrabble).
